J. Drew Lanham's Pandemic as Portal lecture
Everyone is welcome to attend this live Zoom event with J. Drew Lanham. He'll be presenting his talk "Coloring the Conservation Conversation" as part of Spring Creek Project's lecture series "Pandemic as Portal: Creating a Just Future on Earth." J. Drew Lanham is the author of The Home Place: Memoirs of a Colored Man's Love Affair with Nature, which received the Reed Award from the Southern Environmental Law Center and the Southern Book Prize, and was a finalist for the John Burroughs Medal. He is a birder, naturalist, and hunter-conservationist who has published essays and poetry in publications including Orion, Audubon, Flycatcher, and Wilderness, and in several anthologies. He is an Alumni Distinguished Professor of Wildlife Ecology and Master Teacher at Clemson University.

Pandemic as Portal is a nine-week series featuring visionary thinkers who are imagining the world anew as it reconfigures in the midst of the pandemic. Each speaker will explore their highest vision of environmental and social justice, think about the crucial steps we can take as individuals and communities to bring that vision to life, and share stories of how this new paradigm is already taking shape.

SCHEDULE
The series will be broadcast live on Zoom Tuesdays at 6 p.m. PST / 8 p.m. CST / 9 p.m. EST from January 12 to March 9. Other speakers include Kim Stanley Robinson, Erin Moore, Mazin Jamal, KJ Song, Michael Paul Nelson, Elizabeth Sawin, Bathsheba Demuth, Nia E. Martin-Robinson, and Vanessa Raditz.

This series is hosted by the Spring Creek Project and the Environmental Arts and Humanities Initiative at Oregon State University. Lanham's talk is co-hosted by the Corvallis Public Library, the Corvallis Audubon Society, Greenbelt Land Trust, and the Corvallis Sustainability Coalition.
