This is Kalapuyan Land: Reshaping the Museum
Steph Littlebird Fogel (Grand Ronde, Kalapuya) and the co-executive directors of Five Oaks Museum, Molly Alloy and Nathanael Andreini, will speak about the “This is Kalapuyan Land” exhibition and re-shaping the museum. For this exhibition, Fogel annotated panels from the museum’s prior exhibit on Kalapuyan peoples, curated contemporary Native artwork into the exhibition, and added historical and scholarly content from David G. Lewis, Phd, (Grand Ronde, Kalapuya). The exhibition prompts critical thinking around representation of Indigenous history and identity in non-Indigenous institutions. Alloy and Andreini have re-imagined the former Washington County Museum into a place that centers inclusivity, diversity, and access. The talk is hosted by the Cultural Studies of the Museum students and Dr. Kirsi Peltomaki in the Art department at Oregon State University.

This is event is made possible through partnerships between the NAL Eena Haws, the School of Language, Culture, & Society, the School of Arts & Communication, and the College of Forestry.
