Kim Stanley Robinson's Pandemic as Portal lecture
Everyone is welcome to attend this live Zoom event with Kim Stanley Robinson. He'll be exploring connections between the pandemic and climate change as part of Spring Creek Project's lecture series "Pandemic as Portal: Creating a Just Future on Earth." Kim Stanley Robinson is a science fiction writer and winner of the Hugo, Nebula, and Locus awards. He is a New York Times bestselling author who has written more than 20 books including, most recently, The Ministry for the Future (Orbit Books, 2020). His work often explores ecological themes, and in 2008 he was named one of Time magazine's "Heroes of the Environment."

Pandemic as Portal is a nine-week series featuring visionary thinkers who are imagining the world anew as it reconfigures in the midst of the pandemic. Each speaker will explore their highest vision of environmental and social justice, think about the crucial steps we can take as individuals and communities to bring that vision to life, and share stories of how this new paradigm is already taking shape.

SCHEDULE
The series will be broadcast live on Zoom Tuesdays at 6 p.m. PST / 8 p.m. CST / 9 p.m. EST from January 12 to March 9. Upcoming speakers include Erin Moore, J. Drew Lanham, Mazin Jamal, KJ Song, Michael Paul Nelson, Elizabeth Sawin, Bathsheba Demuth, Nia E. Martin-Robinson, and Vanessa Raditz.

This series is hosted by the Spring Creek Project and the Environmental Arts and Humanities Initiative at Oregon State University. Robinson's talk is co-hosted by the Anarres Project for Alternative Futures, the Corvallis Public Library, and Grass Roots Books & Music.
