University Distinguished Professor Lecture - Julia Jones, Distinguished Professor of Geography
University Distinguished Professor of Geography, Julia Jones will give a lecture on May 6 at 5:30 PM regarding her scholarship in teaching, research and engagement in her field of expertise. The lecture is part of OSU’s “Recognizing Excellence” event series, which celebrates students and faculty throughout the year.

Professor Jones is head of the geography program in the College of Earth, Ocean, and Atmospheric Sciences, where her research focuses on land use, climate change and the impact of forest management practices on water systems. Her interdisciplinary projects have brought in more than $31 million in grants and she has a long record of mentorship and administrative service across OSU, as well as regular contributions to national and international policy debates.

The university has presented the University Distinguished Professor award annually since 1988 to current OSU faculty members who have achieved extraordinary national and/or international stature for their contributions in research and creative work, education, outreach and engagement, and service.
