Provost's Lecture featuring Mary Karr
Please join us for Oregon State University's upcoming Provost's Lecture featuring Mary Karr on April 13, 2022 at 6:00 PM (PDT) via Zoom.

The Provost's Lecture Series brings renowned thinkers, writers, scientists, artists and leaders to Oregon State University to engage, challenge and inspire. The series is a partnership of the Office of the Provost and the OSU Foundation.

The webinar will include a keynote lecture by Mary Karr followed by a Q&A discussion moderated by Elena Passarello, associate professor in OSU's School of Writing, Literature, and Film.

Mary Karr is an award-winning poet and New York Times best-selling memoirist, and the Jesse Truesdell Peck Professor of Literature at Syracuse University. She is the author of the critically-acclaimed, best-selling memoirs The Liars’ Club, Cherry, Lit and The Art of Memoir.

In the upcoming Provost's Lecture, Mary Karr will discuss Alcoholism, Recovery and the Art of Memoir. A born raconteur, Karr speaks about alcoholism, depression and the road to recovery with the same wit, irreverence, joy, and sorrow found in her poetry and three best-selling memoirs: The Liars’ Club, Cherry and Lit. She lays bare her brazen battle into adulthood, love affair with Jack Daniels, recovery, and becoming a poet and memoirist along the way. Mary renders her wealth of knowledge and experience that comes from over thirty years in recovery and teaching literature and writing as the Jesse Truesdell Peck Professor of Literature at Syracuse University.
