Change Like Never Before: The Historical Continuum from the Civil Rights Era to BLM Movement
This workshop will follow up the plenary address of Angela Davis. Evelyn Charity, retired Hood River Valley High School teacher, will lead a discussion about the struggle for civil rights and the consequences of centuries of political, economic and social problems in Hood River and in Oregon. Why are there so few Black people in Oregon? What was the code of law that precipitated this imbalance? What is the current social and political climate in Hood River and how can we participate in the social justice movement to effect change?
